We are a small exhibitor and breeder of exceptional Golden retrievers, believing in quality over quantity. We’ve been breeding happy, healthy Golden Retrievers for over 30 years.

Our dogs have some of the best lines and pedigrees in the country.

We regularly exhibit our dogs in AKC sanctioned shows and have bred and shown numerous to their AKC Champion and other performance titles. 

We are AKC Breeders of Merit and AKC Bred with HEART.

 Our farm in the country has plenty of space for our dogs to run and play while we give them extensive training to start them off right. We love our dogs as they are part of the family, having run of our home that sits on 10 acres in southwest Michigan.

Dedicated to breeding Beautiful Golden Retrievers who are both structurally sound and have great temperaments, and a welcome member of the family. Legend Goldens is a responsible breeder of Golden Retrievers based in Plainwell, MI. Established in 1980, we breed with the goal of show quality while emphasizing improvement and preservation of the breed by health testing and with a focus on temperament, conformation, and structural soundness. Our dogs are first and foremost part of the family and companion dogs, with the goal of preservation breeding through solid champion pedigrees. Health testing is very important to us and this is done with all our dogs. Our girls are fully health tested prior to breeding. We search for the perfect stud dog to compliment each of our girls with the ultimate goal being to conform to the standard, good health and fantastic temperament. We do not compromise on our dogs health, temperament or structure. They receive top quality veterinary care, are seen by veterinarian specialists for health testing and are fed high quality food, and of course lots and lots of love.

All of our dogs used in our breeding program are:

AKC registered, OFA clear, Chic cleared, Elbows and Heart Cleared and pedigrees are carefully screened for cancer and other health problems through embark DNA testing 

Please note that our placement requirements are very specific and all applications are carefully considered. Puppies are not available all-year-round and should you be selected for puppy placement, please be aware that all Legend Golden Retrievers placed in companion pet homes will be required by contract to be spayed/neutered. AKC registration will or not be provided until after proof of spay/neuter is furnished. 

Please be aware that, for the mental and physical safety of our dogs, we NEVER ship Golden retrievers we place. We require the new owners to pick them up in person or with a puppy nanny or have us fly the puppy to you.
